Little Christmas

I love the shadows my little tree leaves on the wall.

Count Down

Yeah! Only 9 more school days until I'm out for Christmas break. And for those of you who have less days...........I don't want to hear about it.

Gratitude for Life

I just have to take a minute and share my gratitude for life. I have a dear friend. He and I have been friends for almost 20 years now. It's scary how fragile life is. How we never know if we will be given another day. I am also grateful for medical staff that listens and heeds a higher power. Jim came down with a tremendous head ache. He just wasn't feeling himself. He went to the clinic right before Thanksgiving. While there the doctor decided to give him and IV with an antibiotic in it. He was still not feeling well at all when he went back to the clinic that Saturday. During this visit the one doctor had the feeling to call the ER in Richfield. The call was made and the decision was to send him over for a spinal tap to rule out Spinal Meningitis. Result. . . Positive. There are two main types of meningitis. . . . bacterial and viral. His came on so fast that they are pretty sure that it is bacterial. Which can be deadly. In fact. . . . if the first doctor had not be inspired to give him the IV we very likely would have had a funeral this past week. Meningitis is so rare that they really don't know much about treating it. It causes swelling of the brain (thus the bad headaches) and concerns with the spine. They are treating him as if he has had a serve head injury. He spent a few days in the hospital but is now home. He is suppose to try and do nothing. No read, no TV, no music, no texting, no computer. The list goes on and on. He has to rest and let the neuro paths in his brain reestablish. The result of meningitis range from death, hearing loss, memory loss, comas, motor function problems, loss of taste, etc. Jim is showing no signs of any problems.
I am so grateful for more time with my best friend.

Feeding Frenzy

It all starts by trying to get out my back door. You would think it had been weeks since I had given them any food.

It doesn't help that new ones keep showing up.

I walk to the shed, trying not to trip over them all (8 if your counting).

I finally get to the shed and fill 3 dishes, yes, 3 dishes full of food. And then get out of the way. The FEEDING FRENZY begins.

Simple Joys

I have just spent an hour outside. The first joy is that it is still warm enough to do that. The biggest joy was just simply watching the kittens play. 5 black little kittens that were more gray than black when they were finished rolling round wrestling with each other. And then to hold them with there soft warm fur. What a way to lower the blood pressure! :-) I want them to stay little forever.

Fall Vacation

This week has been Fall Vacation. . . . No School Thursday and Friday. I actually had Wednesday off to go to Salt Lake to the doctor. It was about 1:00 on Thursday afternoon when I got home. Some friends came over and we got the pool room painted. (Maybe I should call it the aquatic room so no one mistakes it for pool table.) Yesterday I dug carrots and bottled 18 pints. I spent some of yesterday and today working on Christmas gifts. Today I have worked on getting caught up on laundry and dishes.

The weather is amazing. I am actually still watering the grass......CRAZY!

Happy 50th birthday Scott!!!

I'm Back

Summer was great. School has started again and my goal is to get back to blogging. I am actually managing 3 blogs. If you view my profile you can see all three listed. This has got to be short for now. I have got to get on with my Saturday chores. If I don't get laundry going I will have nothing to wear tomorrow.

Bibs

To keep myself busy this week I started working on some baby bibs. So far I have finished 16. That's usually how I do bibs. Lots and lots at once and then I don't work on them much for a while. It takes me about 20 minutes to do a bib. I've tried to get some boy colors. I seem to be low on them.

Back Tracking

June 10th was a trip to Salt Lake for my nieces wedding. It was a very enjoyable day. It's hard to believe another one has gotten married.

This spring has brought a lot of flooding to the state of Utah. The Sevier River has been out of it's banks for a while now. This is a picture of the fields going into Richfield. You shouldn't be able to see water.

Memorial Day weekend Sis and her family came and we spent some time at Big Rocks. It's fun to hike the rocks and get yourself a bit lost. It's the one time "D" gets to practice his shooting.

May 26 was school hike day. We all go to Capital Reef and hike. Each grade on there own hike and then together for lunch. My students follow the foot path from the Visitor Center to the picnic area. We had a good time.

On May 21 I stopped by to visit a friend and love on her new baby. I loved the visit.

Cat Count

I need to spend some time putting on some pictures of recent events. But not now.

I have a friend that once said that she doesn't know anyone who has gone through more cats in the last 10 years than I have. Well add some more to that. All 4 of my baby kitties are gone. I was thinking for awhile that Spotty (the mom) was killing them but I'm not sure. I'm wondering if another animal was getting to them at nights. Also Mr. Pickles is gone. He got really sick and I had decided to take him to the vet to be put down. I was having a hard time watching him suffer. But, he died before I could get him to the vet. So 2 weeks ago I had 6 cats........now I have 1. Go figure!

I need Help! I don't know why but I have the hardest time throwing plants away.
Sis.......where are you? Looking at this there are probably just as many leaves on the floor as the plant. But it stays, because I can't seem to throw it away. Somebody help me! (lol)

Welcome

A dear friend gave me some vinyl lettering for Christmas. I have never put it up. I have thought of places to put it and then I change my mind. Today was the day I finally put it up.
So when you all come to visit now, my front door will welcome you with open arms and heart.

Spring Love

The one great joy Spring brings in a small town are the babies. Especially the baby lambs. If they would stay like that forever, I'd probably reach over the fence and bring a couple home.

Weather

The past couple of days I have had to turn on my ceiling fans to keep the house cool. The weather has been so nice. People have been cleaning up their yards. I was able to get out and go for a couple of walks. Spring may have finally got here..........not.I woke up this morning to snow! Today I've got the heater going, not the ceiling fan. What the difference a few hours can make.

Weekend Get Away

I decided to take Friday off work and Thursday night drove to Las Vegas. The thing is....Sis didn't know I was coming. What a fun surprise.
Koami has been busy painting walls. You will never guess who's wall this is.

It was nice and warm. Well, for me. We went for a walk one day and Koami and Loren put on their jackets. 30 degrees warm up felt great to me.

So after celebrating Koami's birthday I had to head back home to my cold, windy weather.

I had a bit of excitement on the drive home. I had my first ever and very last contact with a deer. I was driving along watching out for deer. I saw a group and slowed down. They all took of running down the hill except for the one that turned and ran right in front of me. I heard contact but neither the car or the deer was hurt. I believe that his back hoof must of hit the car as is ran off. It took me a while to realize I wasn't breathing. Scared me to death but I can say that the Lord was looking out for me. I feel so blessed.

Week in Review

My mind draws a blank about the events of this past week except for one thing.....Bunco.

The 2nd Thursday of every month 8 great friends get together for a night of fun and laughter. I so look forward to this night. It's not so much about playing the game itself but rather the company. After a great meal we get the dice warmed up for Bunco. The longer we play the more laughter. The more laughter the lower the stress level. Sometimes I think once a month isn't enough. This week I won the prize for Lowest Bunco's. I didn't roll any myself but we were playing Bunco Share, so I got to count 2 that my partners had rolled.

So far it's been a nice weekend. It's a 3 day weekend because of Human Right's Day on Monday.

Cold!!!

Yes it's me talking about the cold again.
I turn down my heat when I leave for work in the mornings. So when I get home from work my house is about 63 degrees. Today when I walked in I felt like I had walked into an oven. I had to check and see if I left the heat up. No, that's just how cold it is outside! The wind is blowing. So with a temp. of about 15 add in the wind chill factor we are sitting right about ZERO!
Oh how I love my warm home!

Artic Adventure

Monday night for F.H.E. I decided to go see Disney's Tangled. I have not been to the local theater in a very long time. It was freezing!!!!! People were coming in with blankets, hats and scarfs. I never took off my coat or gloves. What's up.....let's have some heat! I had went from school to the movie. So I had not been home to turn my own heat up. So I got home from the movie freezing to a cold house. It took me all night, a couple of corn bags and a blanket, to get warmed up.

2011 - Exciting Start

As the New Year started the town siren went off. My thoughts were....someone has finally came up with a good way to ring in the new year. It didn't stop and I soon realized it was for real. When the siren stopped I could then hear the sirens from the emergency vehicles. Soon my room was filled with red and blue flashing lights. I jumped out of bed. Soon there were 3 fire engines, tanker truck (In case the Hydrant wouldn't work. . . we are talking temps at -13), police, ambulance, and others all in front of my neighbors and my home. It appears that they had a chimney fire. As far as I can tell they were able to hold it to the chimney. What a heart racer for me. I can only imagine what it must of been for them with their 3 little girls.
