Children's Toys

Who needs expensive toys when simple little things are what they want.  I have family here for the weekend.  Nash entertained himself for a long time with a ball of yarn.

Forgetfullness

I forgot the most important news.  SCHOOL IS OUT!

Great Artist

If you are anything like me, and you should be, and love great children's books then you know that sometimes it's the illustrator that really makes the book.
You must check out this illustrators blog.  He does an excellent job.  His pictures are so bright and vivid and entertaining.  Go to www.markmeyers.blogspot.com. He is just new and getting his start.  You should buy all of his books, 8 that I know about.  I personally have a signed copy of his book coming out in June. Here is a sample of his work.

O.K . . . truth. . . .his is my cousin.  Go check out his work!

Tender Moment

Today was school hike day. After hiking is over we have a picnic lunch and play. I was sitting at a picnic table and close by a couple of moms and kids were sitting on a blanket.  I was talking with a 2 year old little boy.  (Brother of one of my students.) He came over and asked to get on my lap.  I picked him up.  He just cuddled right into my arms and their he sat.  I tried to put him down a couple of times and he would just want right back up.  When mom came to get him to go home he wouldn't go with her.  He wanted to stay.  When she picked him up off my lap he started to cry.  I  have never spent time with this little boy before.  It really warmed my heart that he felt so comfortable in my lap.  It was a good moment.

Spring Weather

I really can't say much about today's weather but the pictures can.
Back yard during the storm
We've had hail before but not this size in a long time.

Front yard, road completely white.
The all time quarter comparison.

Hailstones in the grass.

It all wasn't very nice for the neighbor having an outdoor wedding reception tonight.  Yes, they moved it to the church.

Family Time

Family time is not the best when you are at a viewing, but it sure was nice to get to see some of the family.

Little Red Riding Hood

I made a quick trip to Salt Lake for the funeral of Bill Jensen. . . Brian's dad.  While I was there I was able to go to Carlye's school and watch her do a reading of Little Red Riding Hood.  She did a great job.

Prayers are Answered

I don't know about you, but sometimes I wonder if my prayers get past my own ceiling.  During my Fast yesterday I prayed that as I change grades that the money I have to spend out of my own pocket to get ready will stretch.

Side Note
You should know that I have tried very hard during my teaching career not to do anything school on Sunday.  It's my day to get away from it all.

Side Note 2
I have came across a wonderful website. TpT . . . Teachers Pay Teachers.  It's packets of learning items that you can download created by teachers.  The money you pay (Free to $8ish) goes back to the teacher.  I have already downloaded a lot for 2nd grade.

I sat down last at my computer.  There was an email for TpT.  I went to open it and thought it can wait until tomorrow.  I then thought (now I can see it was the spirit) it'll be O.K. this once.  As I opened the email, TpT was having a Teacher Appreciation give away. . . Sunday Only!  I thought Wow I can't pass this up.  I download the first couple of free things feeling kind of guilty for doing it on Sunday.  Then very clearly it came to my mind. . . Your money is being stretched, it O.K.  I was able to download 92 packets. Some won't match my new grade but I can share those.  That's around $300 worth that I downloaded for free.   Prayers are answered.
